Sheila Civale

Sheila Civale began teaching high school Science in 1992 at Darien High School, Darien, CT. After 10 years in Darien, she moved to the New Fairfield Public School District as the Technology Educator for the Consolidated School – New Fairfield’s K-2 school. In 2002, she became a Science teacher at New Fairfield High School (NFHS), teaching Earth Science and Chemistry. In 2005, Ms. Civale added ‘6-12 Science Department Head’ to her teaching title in New Fairfield. Ms. Civale served as the NFHS Coordinator for Project CLEAR, an environmental education strategy designed to foster support and involvement in watershed protection programs. Ms. Civale received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN in 1976; her Secondary Teaching Certificate from John Carroll University, University Heights, OH in 1987; and her M.A. in Teaching (1991) and her Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration (2006), both from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT.

Sheila is currently the Pre K-12 Science Coordinator for the Greenwich (CT) Public Schools.


Cosmo Civale
After thirty-six years in education, thirty-three in public education and three in private education, Mr. Civale retired from full-time service in education.  He was employed through July 31, 2008.  

Mr. Civale has extensive experience in school management, educational technology, and special education.  Over the past seven years he has chaired Planning and Placement Teams meetings, Section 504 meetings, and Child Study Team meetings. He has numerous years of experience as a presenter at local, state, regional and national conferences regarding the use of technology in the teaching and management of our schools.  He has taught on the high school, community college, college, and graduate school levels.
  
Mr. Civale has served in various administrative positions throughout his career. He began as a Department Coordinator, becoming an Assistant Principal, and then in the development and administration of the Technology Program for the Darien Public Schools. He was a Department Coordinator initially at the high school level in Seymour; He served as the 6-12 Business and Computer Department Head in Darien. He coordinated the development and planning for the technology components of the Darien Public Schools K-5 expansion program. He served as the K-12 Technology Coordinator, supervised two Technology Specialist and staff of computer technician.

Mr. Civale received his Bachelor of Arts in June 1970 from Sacred Heart University with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Education.  He received a Master of Business Administration in August 1972 from Iona College Graduate School of Business with a concentration in Organizational Behavior. He then received a Professional Diploma of Advanced Study, Sixth-Year Program Educational Administration and Supervision from Southern Connecticut State University in June 1977.

Mr. Civale was certified as an Administrator or Supervisor (092) in September 1976. Mr. Civale is also certified as a School Business Administrator (085) since July 2006.
